Un hélicoptère est un aéronef dont la sustentation et la propulsion sont assurées par des voilures tournantes, couramment appelées rotors, et entraînées par un ou plusieurs moteurs.
La majorité des hélicoptères utilisent un seul rotor de sustentation et un rotor anticouple, mais d'autres configurations existent tels que les bi-rotors contrarotatifs placés sur le même axe, sur deux axes convergents, en tandem ou sur les côtés, ou des systèmes de propulsion (NOTAR).
L'histoire de l'hélicoptère commence au début du XXe siècle mais les progrès sont nettement plus lents que ceux de l'avion. L'utilisation massive des hélicoptères pendant la guerre du Viêt Nam et le développement des turbomoteurs permettent d'accroître sensiblement ses capacités opérationnelles civiles ou militaires.

Le Drapeau européen est le symbole non seulement de l’Union européenne, mais aussi de l’unité et de l’identité de l’Europe dans un sens plus large, puisqu'il a d'abord été le drapeau du Conseil de l'Europe. Le cercle d'étoiles dorées représente la solidarité et l’harmonie entre les peuples d’Europe. Le nombre d'étoiles n’est pas lié au nombre d’États membres. Les créateurs du drapeau, Paul M.G Lévy et Arsène Heitz, voulaient représenter la couronne de 12 étoiles de la Vierge Marie de la rue du Bac à Paris. Ainsi, le drapeau reste le même, indépendamment des élargissements du Conseil de l'Europe (actuellement 46 membres) ou de l'Union européenne (actuellement 27 membres).

This is the N.Y.P.D. newest aircraft the Agusta A119 Koala. You can see these flying all over New York City. They purchased four of these aircraft to replace their old fleet of Bell Jet Rangers. I beleive they still fly the Bell 412's.

Pacific Ocean (Nov. 11, 2006) - A Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force SH-60J Seahawk helicopter sits on the flight deck of guided-missile destroyer USS Curtis Wilbur (DDG 54) after flying a U.S Navy liaison officer from Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Aegis destroyer JDS Kirishima (DD 174). Kirishima and Curtis Wilbur are working together during the U.S. and JMSDF exercise ANNUALEX. The exercise is designed to improve both forces' capabilities in the defense of Japan. Approximately 8,500 U.S. Sailors are taking part aboard 13 ships, submarines and various shore-based aircraft. About 90 JMSDF ships and 130 aircraft are also participating. Truman (CVN 75). Carrier Air Wing Three (CVW-3) embarked aboard Truman is providing close air support and conducting intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions over Iraq. A U.S. Navy Sikorsky SH-3D Sea King (BuNo 152711) of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron 4 (HS-4) "Sea Knights" hovers over the Apollo 11 command module Columbia on 24 July 1969 and retrieves an astronaut (location 13°19′N 169°9′W). HS-4 was assigned to Carrier Anti-Submarine Air Group 59 (CVSG-59) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Hornet (CVS-12) for the recovery of the Apollo 11 moon mission from 27 June to 1 August 1969.
